Wounded Warriors Coming To Canal Park This July

Charity event raises funds for children who are amputees and have limb differences.

What: Project Summit Inc. and the Akron RubberDucks are hosting a joint press conference to share details regarding the Wounded Warriors Amputee Softball Team (WWAST) that will be traveling to Akron, Ohio to play a doubleheader at Canal Park on Saturday, July 15.

Who: Representatives from Project Summit Inc. and The Akron Mayor's Office will speak at the conference. Players from the Wounded Warriors will be onsite and available, as well as representatives from the Akron RubberDucks, Summit County Standdown, Veterans Service Commission of Summit County, Team Red, White and Blue, and American Legion Post 808.

When: 11:30 AM, Thursday, April 13, 2017

A light lunch will be served immediately following the press conference.

Where: The Duck Club at Canal Park, 300 S. Main St., Akron, OH 44308

Parking Details: Meter parking is available in front of the stadium. Parking is also available at O’Neils Parking Garage (52 W. State St., Akron, OH 44308) behind Barley House.


Why: Project Summit Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to helping children with amputations. The doubleheader will be played Saturday, July 15 with games at 5 PM and 7 PM, respectively. Funds will also be used for Donovan’s Kids Camp. An affiliate of Project Summit Inc., Donovan’s Kids Camp is a summer camp for children who are amputees, have limb differences or are relatives of veterans. The weeklong, overnight camp allows attendees to experience the joys of summer camp in a safe and fun environment.
